A competition is a contest where a winner or more is selected from a range of competitors. I was going to try out but in the end i felt to overwhelmed by the amount of people that were there trying it out. It was powerful environment so i dipped.
I'd try doing this when I'm in gr.11 because then I'd have more experience in dance and i assume I'd be more confident. I don't understand the last question you wrote so I'm just going to say yes i agree
in the grade 12 coreographic workshop i felt that the choreography was very difficult and i had a hard time picking up the steps. sometimes i felt like i was making a really big fool of myself. i agree with you mr. man on the fact that seeing all the people in that autatorium can be vert intimadating and overwhelming, but in competion like that you need to get over things like that and try your best to succeed. i define competition as pushing ones self to be better that someone else in an activity. life is a big competittion and i use to have trouble accepting that. esspecially in a place like rosedale where it is always encouraged to try, but now through some of my life experiences i have learned that we are constantly competeing.
I was doing the theatre company but I heard the dancing experience was interesting but the choreoghraphy was tough and right on top of that almost like half the school was there. It was had not to hit the person next to you in the face. I hope i do it next year and hope it is less populated!
I think that the audition was an amazing way for people to experience a profetional point of view of the competition. Alot of people from the boys dance class paticipated thouroughly and enthusiastic. I loved to do the coriographic workshop last year and I can't wait to get into it this year.
a competition has a winner, thus making it more stressfull, and to some people...more important. an audition is what usually preceeds a competition. based on your audition you might find out whether or not you will be taking part in the competition. i didnt take part in the audition because i had other obligations that couldnt be re-schedualed. i wish i could have been there though, it was something i was really looking forward to being a part of!
A competition is were you are fighting to become the winner. Audition is were you are trying out for something My audition at RHSA for coreo was not the best to my abilities i could had paied more attention. I see my self pushing my body each and every single practise to reach the top.
OMG...
I didnt go to the audiction but had similar experiance. Before the school year I had to go to Rosedale to get placed in a dance class to my level, it was basicly the same thing as this audiction. I found it easy because all I had to do was copy the dancer or teachers movements. If it was free style dancing it would have been wa harder.
I went to the Grade 12 Choreographic Workshop Auditions and stayed until right before the end, when I had to leave for my other dance class, and I thought that it was very tough and demanding, but it gave me that sense of peace at the end of the day where I knew I gave it my all and could do nothing more. The environment, at first, was very tense and scary but as soon as the first number was over, I think people relaxed. As for the actual dancing, it was quite above my head, and I had great trouble remembering the steps in order, but it was satisfying to know that in a few years I will hopefully be up to this level.
As for competition, I find it extremely troublesome, and the stress and tension doesn't let me achieve my best. Competition creates losers, and people always feel worse after losing, no matter what they say. Auditions are even worse, because you are trying to get 'into' something and you see everyone else around you as potential opponents, and so you size them up and end up psyching yourself out. HOWEVER, competitions and auditions are great when you're a winner. Winning is one of the best feelings, especially when there was competition. But overall, I don't competition is worth it because ultimately, you create one winner and a whole host of losers.
This is a very arguable discussion. Technically, an audtition is a competition. You must try your best and compete for whatever the prize is in this case getting into the Choreo Workshop. However an audtition is a competition to get into a competition. A competition is to get a prize.
Competetion=A test of skill or ability; a contest. Audition= A trial performance, as by an actor, dancer, or musician, to demonstrate suitability or skill.
A Competition you go and compete for a prize against a lot of people. It is Something you practice for. An Audition is before yu get into something to show the viewers what your skills are and what is means to you.
At Rosedale it was my first audition when i got there but then when i auditioned for Chorio i felt a lot better and confedent. I am in a group and i am the only guy there (that's a good thing) but overall i liked it but if i were to do it again i would have done somethings diffrently.More technique, stronger, more expression, fix steps i screwed up etc.In Grade 12 Choreographic Workshop I think i would Choreograph and i would like it to be conteparary. ( my favorite kind.) With bit of ballet (not much though)Practices two times a week and maybe three or four near the show.
Hope you enjoyed this

during an audisition i finde its ike 100x harder to do your best because your trying to proov your self worthy of being in wat ever u want but if your just compeating then ya sure u have the strss of winning but your in and your just trying to win somthing youve already prooven your self as a good dancer
OMG....
A competition is when people conpet to win, to get on winner. A udiction has many winners. A audction if for more than a title of "winner" its to get accepted to something or somewhere....
COMPETION: To embark in competition which involves skill in s specific subject.
AUDITION: To show your talent or skill in specific subject in order to recieve a position that specializes in what you auditioned for.
My dance Competition/Audition at Rosedale was competitve and interesting. In was unbelieveable how much some of the gilrs wanted to get into a good piece and would push you to get at the front.
I would do it differntly by first understanding what was going on and how long it would be. Two try and stay at the front and not get pushed back. And three try and take it more seriously.
I see my self as there working dancer. Similiar to a dancer in an actual piece waiting to learn the next choreography and preform to the best of my ability.
