So You Think You Can Dance Canada - 2

So, everyone
What do you think about this episode?
(by the way, it's hosted at the York University
where I graduated few years ago)

It is surprisingly exciting to watch the show again. I think that the judges or the show producers have heard from many viewers that they got to be more honest in terms of commenting and giving out “free tickets”.

I like it better this time because dancers have shown more skills and technique. I am also happy to see that famous figure skater to join in this competition. Regardless of the final result, I solute to his courage and passion for dance. His tours (turn in the air) is simply unbelievable.

I like the Canadian version of “Dance for Your Life” to make the final decision for dancers to go or to stay. Some dancers really use this opportunity to express themselves fully. Of course, few others have fallen apart.

It’s a bit sad to see Tiger and that Korean guy to leave due to their inability to pick up the choreography part. I am looking forward to watching you go through the RHSA Choreographic Dance Audition this Friday afternoon. It will be an unforgettable experience, I guarantee.

This episode was and should be one of the most exciting to watch. (It's just gonna get more exciting from here!)
I was quite upset with some of the people that got cut because they were my favourites form the start. Some didn't even get shown, which was quite upsetting.
Though technique is the one thing that is the most important in this show, I find personality and attitude big factors too. And though he had great technique and amazing tricks, I found that figure skater, Emmanuel Sandhu, to have a somewhat grating personality and a really "high and mighty" attitude though he tried to mask it a bit in this episode.
I had a lot of hope for Tiger, but unfortunately, he didn't make it through the first round. On a personal level, I was happy we were able to see some emotion from him instead of the cold, angry person from the Montreal auditions.
Some people that didn't impress me much in auditions really stood out to me this episode. Natalli's solos were incredibly fierce. She can really work the stage. I didn't find her appealing before in auditions, but now she's been bumped up on my list of favourites.
Overall, I am very pleased with Canada's first ever SYTYCD Top 20. I can tell that this group is very strong and that this competition will be fierce one. I am excited for next week's performances.

Rooting for: Breanne Wong, Nicolas Archambault, Izaak Smith, Lara Smythe, Allie, Natalli and Danny Arbour.
Strange twist of fate this season with my favourites. More girls than guys :o

Chooiedippz is right attitude does matter in the competition. Tiger was so strong (at least the looked on his face and what he said) but eventually fallen apart. Good one, Chooiedippz.

Well maybe I'm just picky, but i felt that the eliminations this time were too harsh. I still want to state that the auditions they were too generous. The Judges just can't seem to find a median between nice and mean. In terms of dancing i felt many did very well. I liked the black guy that did the African music and the dude dancing to Indian music. Did you see that spin!? Amazing. These people show a lot of promise but i don't have high hopes for any of them as of yet. Also the "disco" Choreography i think sucked. It was easy and boring and it was kind of sad to see so many fall apart because of this choreography. It just shows you that some people may be able to dance but tell them to switch it up and they're screwed. Other than the few gripes i had, I'm not going to lie, i did in fact enjoy this episode

I actually really liked the disco choreography. It was fun and easy, yet it seemed really challenging. I think most of the people that struggled with it were the hip hoppers because the first round was in their element, but doing Tre's disco is a bit more technical meaning it would be hard for someone without proper training to achieve.
I would also like to add that they seem to be lacking in hip hop dancers. I would have liked it if Cody Bonnell made it. I see a lot of potential in him and hope he makes it next year. I'm keeping my eye on Miles Faber(the popper) because I haven't seen much of him and I'm hoping to expect greatness from him.

i only saw a bit of it. i was watching the baseball game WOOHOO DODGERS BEAT THE CUBS 7 - 2!!!

haha anyway, the choreographers/judges were hard on them (this time). but i guess they had to since they were choosing a top 20. i thoguht the hip hop judge (luther brown i think) was the hardest on them. i was surprised when tk got eliminated, and on hip-hop. it is his thing. but who auditioned in halifax was amazing. she had almost no experience with hip-hop but she got through the stage with FLYING COLORS!!!!! im expecting the top 20 to be a good one.

The thing about TK and others like him (Poppers, breakers, etc.) are that they are untrained and only know how to move the way they move. Even though hip hop is his element, he'll be out of place because he's never done someone else's choreography before. They're only used to moving to their own movements. I was upset with his elimination, but not surprised.

I have been irratatingly sick over the last couple of days so i have been forced to watch clips from youtube and I must say that I think I am looking fotward to watching the rest of the competition. Everything is much more polished. I hope i have more to say next time. I heard some good people got off though!

I think through out the whole SYTYCDC the judges AND Performences have been back and fourth some of the dancers like figure skater he had very good technique and nice sharp movements and the tripple axcel was very amazing unlike the Phairy guy who thought he was a belly dancer the judges though he was horrible i not one to judge but soo did I i am really looking forward to the toronto week!!!

some pretty solid stuff. the judges are of course overpaid pompous homophobes. but it was still pretty good.

LOL@overpaid pompous homophobes. Please do know that Blake McGrath is gay. Like incredibly. He's part of Boylicious for a reason XD
Meaningless post, but just an fyi thing.

I am finding that the african Dancer who does all of the unworldly poses is easy to get into. I find myself watching the show and hoping that he will strive. I also am starting to feel worried towards the girl who sprained her ankle and it gets worse and worse.

Ya, no sh*t. lol
the other ones.

So the reason you call the other judges pompous homophobes is because they don't like men who don't dance masculine? The thing there are guys who dance feminine and there are guys that dance with grace and still look masculine. There's a difference. It's all about the presence that you give. A guy can dance "femininely" and still dance with masculinity because of the presence he gives. Male lyrical dancers are proof of that. Exaggerated, slow, graceful movements but still with the sense of masculinity.
I read your other post and know that you're mainly talking about Emmanuel (At least I think). I'll reserve my personal opinions on him for this. I agreed with Mary about his audition though, when he "switched it up", it really did ruin it. Yes, I understand that it's "comic relief", it's supposed to show some personality. But he did it the WRONG way. If he kept to his style without the random flamboyant outburst in the middle, it would have been amazing. It was a choice that went badly.

I felt very disipointed with the top 20. i felt a lack of personality amongst them. i hop they tur out to be very interesting people, because thats what makes the show so much fun to watch.

i'm commenting on the 3rd episode, with the top 20 dancers. I only saw 3 performances but from what I could see, they have certainly narrowed down the dancers to the extremely skilled and passionate.

Izaac & Katelyn: These two were my favourite, with their performance from 'Chicago'. Even though the judges harshed on Izaac for not giving it his all and appearing amateur, I though that he gave a strong performance and his 'amateurness' gave the performance a human edge that couldn't be found in the other performances, where it was just too perfect for anyone other than the judges to pick up on the mistakes. They were very, very 'cute' and their style of dance was very fun & bouncy. They could have put in some more passion, but their facial expressions were gold. My favourite so far.

Lisa & Vincent: I really enjoyed this duo's contemporary piece, as it contained a great sense of movement and speed. The pair swayed from side to side like reeds in wind, using their bodies for expression. They moved from one side of the stage to the other very gracefully and beautifully. My #2 pick.

I didn't watch the second show, but I have to comment on the judges and how they affect the show. The judges are professional, and can see mistakes and slip-ups where us normal people can't. Does this make the show better? From the dances I have seen, they always blow my mind, but the judges continue to rip them apart. Is this nitpicking? Or is this good, as it makes sure only the REALLY good dancers get through.

omg Jesse almost got kicked out. thank god he did'nt hes the best i hope he wins hes so good

I believe that its only to make sure that the really good dancers make it through.

Personally i like this episode and i likeed how the judges were a little more... well a lot more harder on judging and i also liked how all the dancers stepped it up

I thought these auditions were a few levels beyond the rest. There seemed to be a lot more trained talent in this episode. I also saw te jobs doing a much more profesional job. i especially liked the dancer TK. He had a very abstract syle that worked very well for the competition. All in all i was much more impressed with these competitons.
